Super Nurse for February 2017: Lisa

This month, we are highlighting a travel nurse Super Nurse who works tirelessly in a mountain-based facility in Colorado, where injured skiers are flooding her ER unit.

Our February Super Nurse of the Month is: Lisa! She stepped up to be a hero by working a ton of OT and taking on extra shifts that her hospital was desperate to fill. We’ve heard several times how important Lisa is to her hospital and how she is loved by all who come in contact with her.

Here’s what Lisa’s recruiter, Nick Amorini had to say in his nomination for Super Nurse of the Month:

Lisa’s been on assignment with us since August and her facility liked her so much that they requested her to extend for an additional 20 weeks. I’ve seen firsthand how her continued efforts prove her passion to patient care. From the end of January and into the first couple weeks of February she truly stepped it up. She worked 60 hours in back to back weeks (5 days with 12 hour shifts!), and then worked 48 hours the very next week. Her picking up OT shifts, I think, is a real show of how important our travelers are to hospitals who truly need them.

When we asked Lisa what her super power was she said:

I love being a nurse because it truly is my happy place. I remember growing up and seeing nurses take care of my grandmother.  People in the ER are often going through one of the worst moments of their life and I hope that as much as possible I make this difficult time just a tiny bit better. That’s also what’s awesome about ER nursing. Every shift offers new experiences, new people to help and new moments to (hopefully) have a positive impact on someone.

We’re so proud to call Lisa a Super Nurse and hope she continues making a positive impact in ER units across the country.
